Yes the announcement came a while ago but this is the downfall of not having the internet for a long time, you lag behind on information (hence the few month silence) But anyway, I Am Alive was released back on March 7th for Xbox Live Arcade but the release that concerns me is that on the PlayStation Network (PSN).
Back on March 20th Yannick Myrtil (Ubisoft) posted an announcment on the PlayStation Blog which read,
”I Am Alive, the long-anticipated believable post-apocalyptic action-adventure game from Ubisoft, will be available to download on Sony Entertainment Network on April 4th, 2012.”
Yannick goes on to say,
”And as icing on the cake, early PlayStation Plus buyers – within the first two weeks – will benefit from an exclusive 20% discount on the game.”
So for all those PlayStation Plus users this could serve to make up for the extended development time, I on the other hand am not a PlayStation Plus user and will have to shell out the full price (once i get a proper internet connection). Even so I’m still excited as I’ve been waiting for this since it was first announced, all I hope now is that it doesn’t dissapoint.
I guess since I Am Alive will be released soon my hopes for games that have gone through strange development cycles must turn back to The Getaway which is still being classed as ‘on hold’.
”I would not say they have been abandoned, just put to one side. Much work had been done.” – Nicolas Doucet of London Studio
My concern with situations like that of The Getaway is that as time passes and the studios focus more on new games (Like SingStar and Eyepet in London Studios case) that games ‘put to one side’ are forgotten and when they are eventually released the graphics and sound of new games is so far they either have to start production again or release a sub standard game.
